Since it seems none of my invites are going through, if you've joined recently and haven't received an invite. I have opened the team communities up to moderated membership, and this community also. I'll approve your membership as soon as I can. I'm so sorry about this, I don't know what's happening.
Hey guys! Phase #3 is going to start next Monday (with a little something soon for the first week of the new phase), and since I'm from the future, that's more like Sunday night for most people. I'll start posting challenges again starting the 4th of April. This post is just reminders, and other things.
is going to be hosting challenges through this phase, through to becoming main modly mod after this phase. Please welcome them into this new role! I'm very excited about it.
#2. The community entries are automatically friends locked. But the community is always open. The closed side of it is to prevent spammers, and lurking on challenge entries. Sometimes you create something you wouldn't ordinarily for a challenge, something you wouldn't post otherwise, I know I do. But if you aren't a member, and want to "check out" the community before joining, leave a comment
to that post, and you can get a visitors pass. Spammers don't get visitors passes.
#3. Remember the FAQ
post. It should have all relevant information.
#4. Challenge questions have to always
go to the questions thread. Sometimes (most of the) time I don't look at entries before it is time to tally results for a challenge, and that is just too late to answer a question. Every challenge has a questions thread, and I track those, and will do my best to answer as soon as possible.
#5. Tag banners. I didn't remind last phase for the extra challenge point you received if you posted your challenge responses with it, but this time I shall include that in the challenge posts to avoid confusion. So there will be a "Yes/No" if you can receive an extra point. If you are new don't worry if you don't have one, there'll be a challenge very early in the phase to make new ones. If you make one before this you can submit it to the challenge, so you'll get your extra point in challenges before then. If you can't make one, there is the option of getting someone on your team to make one for you. They want the extra point, so there should be plenty of help.
I think that is everything I wanted to say right now. See you all soon!

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'm going to step down as mod after the next phase. What I'm hoping is someone wants to run this place, that's kind of essential. I've had fun with it, but I'm running out of pep and enthusiam for it, so I think it's time to bring someone in who has it. To make it easier, on everyone, the new mod, and participants, I have a strategy!
My plan is, to have a co mod for this phase, someone who hosts challenges, to get the feel for it, and other comm things, so they know what they're getting themselves in for. I'll still be doing what I do, so they'd be like a mod in training! Then the next phase, they'd be completely in control. I might drop down to the secondary mod slot for a little while, see what happens there.
Of course this all depends on someone wanting to take over this community. So I'm opening this post up for people to express interest. I'm not sure how to do an application for this, so just comment away if you are interested, and we'll go from there. Obviously you need the enthusiasm for it, and the time. It's pretty much an every day thing, so you need to have the time to do something most days. Questions/challenges/tallying/planning. So if you think "you may have time", it's not really going to work. You need to be able to definitely have time.
You'll be able to stay on your team as "mod in training", but if you step up to full time mod, you won't be able to. You'll be on all the teams, sort of!
Comments to this post are screened. :)
I've been thinking about this for a little bit, and was going to do it at the end of this phase, but I've decided to do it now.
From now on, for all challenges you can use whichever Star Trek you wish.
At the beginning I didn't want to because of the other Star Trek land community, but I don't think it matters. People can be in both if they wish! I know not everyone will have seen all of them, no challenges are going to directly need to have seen specific Treks. It's not going to affect challenges planned for this phase, a few will just be tweaked a little to accommodate. If you want to just use TOS/Reboot for challenge responses, you can 100%.
Questions/comments are welcome.
I've removed inactive/former members from the team communities and this community. I know I removed one person accidentally, if I've done this to you please let me know and I'll send you an invite.

PLEASE FILL THIS IN
IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY. As it says in the post attached, people who haven't participated, and don't say whether they want to stay will be removed. So far no one wants to switch teams, if you want to you can definitely do that.
It has been quiet lately, I didn't mean it to be! Dates got confusing, then by the time I realised it was too late. Next time I'm planning on being more organised.
Hey everyone, I haven't really mentioned this much, but the end of this month is the end of the first phase for startrekland
For those who aren't familiar, land communities like this one have phases, these generally last 3-4 months. At the end of the phase the team with the most points earned by its members is the winner of that phase, and then the scoreboard is wiped clean and it happens all over again. I should be better with the second phase.
At the end of the phase, people will be able to switch teams if they like. There is a poll under the cut dealing with that, people are also welcome to drop out if they want. I have gone through the spreadsheet
and highlighted in yellow the people that haven't participated (or have but not in several weeks). If these people don't enter this poll saying they will be sticking around for phase two, they will be cut from the team lists. I know the FAQs say you need to participate at least once every three weeks or you will be cut, and I haven't stuck to that, mostly because it's the first phase and I'm still getting the hang of it (and I forget things). Next phase I'll keep a closer eye on that.
So there is a poll under the cut to say if you'll be sticking around for phase 2, and if you want to switch teams. ( PollCollapse )
I will be posting a feedback post closer to the end of the phase, this isn't that. Comments to this post are not screened.

Today I'm going to be going back, and making all entries, bar a few select ones MEMBERS ONLY. It's something I thought about doing in the beginning, but didn't, things have made me change my mind.
If you aren't a member yet, you'll need to become one, and I'll approve the request, since membership is now moderated, but if you are a member of a team, you're request will be approved as soon as I can. But I will only approve your request if you are a member of a team here, honestly I don't understand why you would want to be a member if you aren't on a team.

1. I know people are getting a little confused by the challenge end dates. I'm not sure if this is my doing, or people getting confused by when they end. Please let me know what issues you have, it's what I'm here for.
. I'll use it to do reminders for challenges, and other community things. You can of course follow it if you want.
3. Who's interested in a rewatch? I won't be able to do one this weekend, but maybe next? Plenty of time to figure out what we could watch. These are a lot of fun to do. Everyone gathering in a chat room, and just geeking out over Star Trek, and random things. So fill out the poll with which you'd rather.
If you aren't watching/tracking starfleethq
already, you should, any further posts on the rewatch will happen there, and other fun stuff! Remember anyone can post anything they like there.
